Automatic electric jar opener sitting on a kitchen counter next to glass jars

One-touch jar opener

Press one button. The jar opens itself.

It grips the jar, twists the lid loose and lets go on its own. No wrist strain, no rubber pads, no running the jar under hot water, no asking someone else to do it.

Fits lids 1.2–3.5 in (3–9 cm) Fully automatic Magnet holds the lid Glass screw-top jars

What makes it easy to live with

Hand pressing the single button on top of the automatic jar opener

One button does everything

Set it on the jar, hold the button, and the machine handles the force. Nothing to crank, clamp or adjust by hand.

The lid stays put

A magnet keeps the loosened lid inside the opener instead of dropping into your food or rolling across the floor.

The opener jaws returning to their starting position after opening a jar

It lets go by itself

Once the lid is off, the jaws return to their starting position and stop. You lift the opener away and the jar is open.

Stubborn pasta sauce, vacuum-sealed pickles, jam, salsa, baby food, olives, a jar that has been sitting in the fridge since last month: same routine every time.

How to use it

  • 1Peel off the paper or plastic neckband seal on the jar.
  • 2Slide the rubber grip on the outer jaws all the way down.
  • 3Stand the jar on a flat, non-slip surface and place the opener squarely on top of the lid.
  • 4Press and hold the button. The outer jaws close around the jar body. Keep holding until the inner jaws start to move, then release.
  • 5The inner jaws grip the lid, the outer jaws lock the jar in place, and the lid is turned open.
  • 6All jaws open again and the opener stops on its own. Lift it off and take the lid out.

During operation: keep fingers, hair, jewellery, loose sleeves and utensils clear of the moving jaws. To reset the opener at any point, press the main button once.

Will it fit your jars?

Measure straight across the top of the lid. Most supermarket jars, from small spice jars to large sauce jars, land inside this range.

Before you order

  • Check that your lids measure between 1.2 in and 3.5 in across.
  • Always remove the safety seal or neckband before running the opener.
  • Skip any jar with chipped glass or a dented, damaged lid.
  • Keep the jar on a flat, non-slip surface, never in your hand.
  • With very small or very tall jars, steady the jar with one hand and rest your other hand lightly on the opener so nothing tips or spills.
